Weather not looking good
mountainous country
Our first sighting of Goats
Mine winder on approach Cobar
Welcome to Cobar
Now this is an old Hotel

Tuesday the 1st
We were awaken at around 5am with the noise of a mouse in the House. I hopped out of bed and investigated and it was in the plastic bag containing mouse traps and poison etc. I tied the bag once I saw it and went back to bed, When we hopped out of bed at 8am I took the bag over by the fence and tipped everything out and it wasn't there so tonight I will have to set traps to get the little bugger. It was interesting that he had been eating the poison bait.
We had our breakfast and then packed things away and then said farewell to the happy campers that came in late yesterday and we were on our way to Cobar. The sky was very overcast and the going was easy considering there was no wind though we were climbing all of the time then we came to the mountainous country, though that didn't slow us at all. We were have our first sighting of Goats and then further on our first Emu. It wasn't long and we were approaching the outskirts of Cobar and the many mine sites along the way. We were to note the amount of Mine Winders and before we knew we arrived at our camp for the night. We may stay a couple of days, We will wait to see what tomorrow brings. We pulled up and set up and then took the A-Frame off the Terios. Then we were off to do a bit of retail therapy. First stop was at Subway where had a foot long each washed down with a cappuccino. We only ate half so we will have the rest for our meal tonight.
Then checked out both IGA's and then onto Vinnies where we bought a few video's etc for our trip ahead. Then over to the Library where we purchased a heap of books for later on in our trip. Around to the post office and then checked out the park and back home and relaxed for the rest of the day. It looks like rain and hopefully that's not the case.

Truck going down to pit
About to go underground
Old water catchments lagoon

Wednesday the 2nd
We heard the mouse in the house again in the early hours of the morning, it is not taking the bait in the mouse traps so we will need to go back to the drawing board.
As we were getting out of bed we heard the soft patter of rain on the roof though it did not last for long. On going outside the sky was very dark and the forecast is for heavy rain this afternoon. We had our breakfast and then did the touristy thing by going out to the Mt Bourke Lookout. We were to see the heavy haulage trucks dumping their load up on the top level and then they came down and went underground for their next load. It was interesting to watch the action for the signs tell us that they are mining a kilometre plus underground chasing the elusive gold. Most of the mines around Cobar are gold ventures.
We then drove out to the old water supply where we would normally camp staying a few days. We were somewhat surprised for we counted 15 caravans and motorhome's where we would normally be on our own. There was no bird life on the lake though it has much more water than a few years ago.
We drove back into the city centre and first went and had a cappuccino which was great and then onto the service station where we had our showers thus saving our water for future use. We then drove back and went to the sports store and the electronic shop for a few items and then into the Library and checked the Queensland border situation. The web site stated as we have not been in Victoria for the past 14 days we did not require a border pass, which we like. For those who have been have to go through a lot plus the possibility of aquatinting for 14 days at your expense.
We picked up a few more DVD's whilst we were there for future use. It was well after lunch time so we returned to the motorhome and hooked up the car for are heading for Bourke tomorrow.
We sat around for the rest of the afternoon chatting to other happy campers and then read our books before our evening meal. Tonight hopefully we will catch our mouse if not we may have to burn the motorhome just to be rid of it, only joking of course.

Terrible weather this morning from rain pelting down and then clearing and a hundred kilometres on nice sunny blue sky's

The town centre of Bourke, Note the roller doors, The old steam engine, The Darling River

Thursday the 3rd
We awoke this morning to rain on the roof of the motorhome not heavy though consistent. We did not hear any mice last night so maybe we finally are rid of the bugger. Liz was to find a few droppings near the sink and hopefully these are old. Well it finally happened the gas bottle supplying gas to the fridge finally ran out so on with the coat and out and changed the bottles over. The weather did not look good at all with thunderstorms predicted and over breakfast we contemplated whether we would stop another day. When we looked at the weather map for Bourke it did not look much better.
There were a lot of happy campers pulling out so we decided we would do the same. After bedding everything down for travel we then went to the service station and filled with diesel at $1.41.9 a litre.
Then onto the Mitchell Highway and we were on our way to Bourke. The first hundred kilometres was rain though no wind, the wipers were going nearly all the time. There were many trucks and trailers and they were sending up sheets of water. Along the way we were to see goats again and they were soaked wet. The sky ahead looked bad and then after around 100 kilometres the sky ahead looked a lot clearer then we drove out of the rain into brilliant sunshine and wasn't that great. We were to see a mob? of about ten Emu's though I was not quick enough to get photo's.
We finally arrived at Bourke at around 11am and we went into the IGA and bought a few items which included ginger beer. We thought the prices of items were quite good compared to other supermarkets we have visited in the past.
Off to the newsagents and then onto the cafe to have a cappuccino, all very nice and then we checked the stores out for the cup holders for our chairs to no avail. It is strange to see that all shops have roller doors to pull down over their windows, I suppose it beats getting you windows broken. We then went up to Port Bourke and were to watch the old steam engine they had working for tourists and then onto the wharf and looked at the Darling River. A couple of locals were to inform us that last week the river was nearly bursting its banks.
The around to the service station to top up with diesel at $1.39.5 which will now be enough to take us over the Queensland border and onto Cunnamulla. We had a late lunch and set up our camp on dry ground and then had a late lunch and read our books for the rest of the afternoon.

Sunset last night
Old/ new Bridge North Bourke
North Bourke Bridge has an interesting history
Stock road trains Barringun
Welcome to Queensland
Now in the Paroo Shire

Friday the 4th
Last night it was a beautiful sunset at North Bourke where we camped and as you could see us from the highway it didn't take long for five caravans and motorhome's to park behind us for the night.
This morning it was a bit overcast though the sun was shining. I walked up to the old bridge which is built on round steel pylons which look like they could last for another hundred years, though the decking was starting to deteriorate badly. The history of the bridge was there and it certainly had a use as far back as a hundred years ago.We went back onto the highway heading towards Cunnamulla. the sun was shining through the clouds and it appeared as if we had a tail wind to assist us on the way. When we arrived at Barringun near the Queensland border we were going to stay at the road house. This was not to be for the camping areas were flooded so we pushed on. We finally arrived at the Queensland Border and took a few photo's, we decided to drive onto the Tuan Waterhole and stay for the night and when we arrived the road in was a mess so we gave that idea away.
Then there was no other option than to drive onto Cunnamulla and stay behind the pub for the night and have a meal and a bit of refreshment.
We first went to the Ampol Depot and filled with Diesel for $1.42 a litre and fuel for the Terios.
Onto the pub and when we pulled around the back we were informed that there was no longer camping at the rear. So much for a night out. We then drove to the truck stop just out of town where we had a late lunch and found it was a day use area only. Liz was to look in her books and came up with a bush camp we had stayed at in 2017 some 14 kilometres out of Cunnamulla. We headed there and the ground was solid so we decided this was our stop for the night. As we can be seen from the highway we expect other happy campers to come which is OK. Later in the afternoon I set up the satellite dish to watch the football tonight

Protective cover over window
Welcome to Eulo
Old Dodge truck raised to ferry people and goods across causeway.
Saturday the 5th.
We were awakened this morning at 4am by our resident Mouse who was chewing on the Rat Sack after sucking off the peanut butter and butter without setting off the other traps. Maybe the rat sack may get the little bugger.
Out of bed at 8am for we have decided to push onto Yowah today. After breakfast we put sponge and and window cover over the front screen of the Terios to avoid those dreaded stones on the single lane bitumen. We were on our way with our first stop at Eulo to have a cappuccino and purchase bread for future use. Whilst there we were to note the old Dodge Truck that had been raised in the chassis to allow it to cross the Paroo River when it was in flood it carried people and goods across the causeway during those times .
We had our cappuccino in the brilliant sunshine and then had a chat to a local local bloke and then we were our way again.
When we crossed over the Paroo River we noted there were plenty of happy campers there though on one side of the road it looked very boggy.
Crossing Paroo River
Cattle in the long paddock
Welcome to Yowah

We drove past the mud baths and we did not want to go in for a bath. The going was good and the bonus was that there was no traffic at all on the road. that is until we turned onto the road into Yowah. We had 3 caravans and a four wheel drive the first caravan went off the bitumen and showered with rocks, We were lucky that we padded the windowscreen on the Terios. We pulled off for all the others and they stayed on the bitumen as they were supposed to. We were to see a few cattle grazing on the long paddock and there were plenty of pools of water so they must have had heaps of rain. Before we knew it we had arrived in Yowah went down to the campgrounds found our old parking spot was vacant on the concrete blocks so that is where we set up. The sun was belting down and we worked up a sweat, Chris and Bron came down with a trailer full of wood for us which included chimney logs and the tri stand to stand them on given I left mine at home we had a cuppa and chewed the fat and then it was time for our showers in the hot bore water. Happy hour this afternoon is when we will light the fire.

Sunday the 6th
Awoke this morning feeling very crook, so much so, It was Liz who suggested that as the Flying Doctor was conducting a clinic for locals that she go and see if I could make an appointment and that turned out to be the case. I was diagnosed as having acute bronchitis and was given antibiotics. I then was asked to stay while another doctor had a look at me. The decision was taken that I should be hospitalised. So it was to be that I was transferred to the Royal Flying Doctor Plane. I was then flown to Cunnamulla and then transferred to the Cunnamulla Hospital. I was checked for Coved symptoms, which proved negative. Placed into single bed ward and treatment started immediately with a canella fitted and medicine then pumped into my body.
It was for this reason that the diary had no entry's from the Sunday the 6th to Wednesday the 9th. As I am still on a course of antibiotics this diary will not get the attention I would normally give it, for which I apologise.

Dreaded Corella's
Cunnamulla Fella
Cunnamulla Weir and picnic area
Plenty of roots for flood time
Dingo's and wild dogs taking poison bait on farms

Thursday the 10th
Catching up with time even though I am still a little crooks after leaving hospital yesterday and coming back to Yowah. Our good friends Chris and Bron were coming to Cunnamulla for an appointment and they gave Liz a lift to pick me up. I was pleased to leave hospital even with extra scripts for antibiotics. These were filled and the second place visited was the Bakery for a pie and cappuccino, all good. Chris drove us down to the Cunnamulla Weir and Picnic Area which was quite good. To see many gum trees with their roots exposed due to flooding was amazing when you think of the volume of water during the flood that these trees have to hold out against.
We then went and did a bit of shopping and then headed for Yowah, The first stop was Eulo where we sat out in the sun and had another cappuccino for overall the trip back takes about 2.5 hours a lot slower than the plane. We were to see many dead dingo's and wild dogs hanging from the trees as they had been dropping poison baits from the air. They lose a lot of sheep and cattle to these wild dogs etc.
Chris was to show me a few good Yabby holes which I will exploit when I am feeling a lot better. Most of the day I have been popping pills and sleeping and hopefully I can go off to sleep ok tonight. We will have our main meal today at lunch time and just a small meal tonight. Today has been sunny though we have a terrible southerly wind that is making it very cold.

Beautiful Granville's
Our Chimney fire last night

Friday the 11th
I am still not quite with it as yet, so please bear with me. Out of bed and it was still overcast though that cold wind had disappeared. We had breakfast inside and then cleaned up. Chris was to take us out to a special spot for Yabby's and we set the pots. Then Liz and I both helped collect wood though I was not much good. Later in the day we pulled the pots and there were no yabby's. Back in camp and haven't been eating much so we lit the fire and placed a chimney log on the holder. After a while it really jumped into life and we were all very warm indeed.
We came inside later when the dew was coming down and watched football for awhile before going off to bed.

Our secret Yabby Hole
Only a few Yabby's caught
Yowah Shop

Saturday the 12th
We awoke to the screeching of the Corella's and when going outside it was fine with no clouds or wind and it was quite warm. This morning we had our usual egg, bacon, black pudding and cheese muffin washed down with a cuppa.
Cleaned up and showered and then out to check the yabby pots. We only caught five and hopefully that will improve as the weather picks up. Back in camp and Liz set the fire for tonight and no doubt we will have another chimney fire.
After lunch we went for a walk, albeit very slowly, up to the shop for a few items plus an ice cream each. We had a look at the bore where the town draws its water from. On the way back we stopped and had a talk to Val one of the local characters and chewed the fat with here for awhile. I appear to be a lot better today so the rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing in the sun. We will have an easy meal tonight and few refreshments before coming in to watch the football again.

Our chimney fire last night
Totem at the Bluff
Countryside from the top of Bluff
Sundial at the Bluff
Township of Yowah from the Bluff

Sunday the 13th
We had another good chimney fire last night, it was certainly nice and warm. We were to cook our evening meal on the fire and then had a good chin wag with out neighbours before going inside when the night dew came down. We were to watch the St Kilda football game and I was very disappointed they lost to Adelaide.
This morning the sky was cloudy though it cleared to brilliant sunshine around 10am and it was once again lovely sitting out in the sun having our breakfast. After breakfast and cleaning up we went out to check the Yabby traps and once again the yabby's were scarce for we only caught one. We will check the nets this afternoon and then pull them in for a few days until the weather warms up.
We then decided we would go up to the Bluff, which overlooks the town and all the surrounding land. We were to note that the totem of rocks has grown even bigger and the land beyond appears to be dry. We have not seen a kangaroo or goats which is mighty unusual. I have to say the views are wonderful and we must come up one night to catch the sunset and have a barbecue. We were to look at the sundial and distances to the various places in the world.
On the way down we stopped to take a photo of Yowah nestled in the bush. We were to have a hot lunch and will only have a sandwich or something small for our evening meal. There were a few happy campers arrive and the first thing they say, is our wood is it for everyone? Needless to say what the reply is. We are having a pleasant afternoon in the sun reading our books and will get another chimney log ready for tonight.

The Information, Library and Cafe
Liz enjoying our junk tucker lunch at the Cafe

Monday the 14th
When I came out during the night I was somewhat amazed at the star filled night including the milky way, it was absolutely beautiful. This morning there were clouds and the temperature was around 19 degrees warming up later in the day.
We had our breakfast and then chatted to happy campers around us who once again asked if our wood was for everyone. Needless to say they were told in no uncertain terms to leave our wood alone. We were to catch two more mice in the wood heap and luckily there appears to be none inside the motorhome.
Chris had came around and left the ladder for me to use and first, up and cleaned the solar panels and then onto the roof and renewed the cable to the television antenna. Down and re tuned the television set and all appeared to be working ok.
Tonight we will not worry about the dish just use the normal television.
As it was nearly mid day we drove up to the cafe and ordered dim sims and chips and a spring roll washed down with mug of cappuccino, which was all good. We were to have a chat to a couple of local people we have met over the years.
We were to receive a telephone call from the Royal Flying Doctor Service booking us in for our second coved shot this coming friday.
We then went over to the shop and paid for our meal on Thursday night and then bought an ice cream and sat and ate it and watched the bore water coming from the depths of the earth.
Back home and our friends turned up with a trailer load of wood which was graciously accepted. The rest of the day was spent watching happy campers both coming and going. Tonight we will cook our meal by the fire and then place a chimney log on the stand to keep us warm.

Feeding the Family Birds
Top Knots (bush pidgeons) feeding
Another beautiful sunny day

Tuesday the 15th
We came in last night for there were a few heavy spots of rain. This morning the sky was blue and and at 9am it was 20degrees rising to 25 degrees later in the day. We were having our breakfast in the sun and we were visited by the Family Birds. Liz was to get some old bread and they thought it a treat squabbling over the small pieces, then the Top Knots arrived (bush pidgeons) and they were seeking their share. They were very skittish and the sounds of their wings on take off is just like music to the ear.
We thought we would remain in camp today and just take in the beautiful weather and read our books.
Lunch time arrived and Liz made a beaut pot of vegetable soup that went down very well. We were to have our showers with the beautiful hot bore water, you only turn on the cold tap and there is plenty of hot bore water.
A little later in the day our friends arrived with more wood for our fires, which we think is great. We had a couple of happy campers visit us for a chat which was great and we all noticed the amount of campers that stay only one night and they are back on the road to who knows where.
Tonight we will have our chimney fire once again and possibly sit out late into the night and if the day stays the same we should witness the stars of the outback including the milky way.

We will go in later and watch a bit of television or go off to bed and read our books, It is tough making all these decisions.

Our chimney fire underway last night
Cooking the Chicken on the Baby Q

Wednesday the 16th
We had good fires last night once again and the heat from those chimney logs is enormous. All of us had to move a couple of times due to the heat, later in the night the stars were once again shining bright and we were to see several satellites go overhead before we went off to watch a bit of television after another good day.
This morning the sun a was a little later rising when we went outside and the day was to be a warm 26 degrees with no clouds to speak of. After we had our breakfast we cleaned up and our friends arrived with the goods we had ordered off E-Bay, we fitted them to our chairs and though on the small side they will suit us well. Then drove up to the cafe/information centre where we photo stated a few pages dealing with diesel heaters. We rechecked the DVD's and purchased a couple and then went into the cafe and had a large mug of Cappuccino. All very nice and then we had a chat to locals who informed us that the Toompine Hotel our next port of call is closed, which is sad.
Back to camp and pulled out the Baby Q and placed a chicken on the rack and then settled in to wait for it cook, We are to have a late lunch with baked and steamed veggies. We were to cook the spuds and pumpkin in the camp oven.
The meal turned out to be quite good with plenty of gravy and after the meal we washed up and then sat in the sun enjoying the day and reading our books. Tonight needless to say we will have another chimney fire and hopefully the bar will bend back to be straight once again.
Again we will enjoy the star lit night before going inside around 9pm.

Breakfast fire this morning
Mitre 11?
Just a few pickings
Name speaks for its self Fossicking Area Yowah

Thursday the 17th
A beautiful sunny morning once again though clouds and wind would appear later in the day making it a little colder than what we are used to. It didn't take much to get the fire going this morning to boil the kettle for our breakfast. We had a few happy campers drop by and again enquiring about our wood, is it for everyone to use and the answer to that of course is no. We then point them to the area where they can get wood down deeper in the park.
We read our books in the sunshine and then we decided to walk to the post office to send off a letter. Along the way we stopped at the many roadside stalls selling bottles of Opal and what a touch off, plenty rock little Opal. Whilst near the shop we had another ice cream and then ventured home by an alternative route. There are still plenty of houses for sale though no thanks not for us.
We had a light lunch and then we drove out to tip which they call Bunnings and we call Mitre 11 though the pickings are very poor at the moment. Then we went onto the main fossicking area for Opal and noted one person digging for the elusive gem. It is good rugged country and you not allowed to use mechanical means to dig just the old fashioned way with pick and shovel.
We then returned back to camp and then had our showers for we are going up to the camp kitchen for our evening meal tonight. It is doubtful if we will light the fire for we do not expect to arrive back in camp until later this evening and the way the weather is going it will be to cold we thinks.

Sunset last night
RFD Duck Race
Meal about to be served
Out desert last night
RFD Plane arriving
The girls playing Bingo

Friday the 18th
What a wonderful sunset last night as we wound our way up for the evening meal at the shop restaurant. There were plenty of people there 50 last week 75 tonight. With everyone talking it was sure noisy and then they decided to have the Duck Race to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor service. They released the dusks and away they went down the bore water drain.
Then it was time for our meal either chicken or roast pork. As we were on the end of the line it didn't make sense to take the pork there was so little left. We opted for the chicken with roast potatoes and pumpkin and plenty of steamed vegetables smothered in gravy, very nice indeed.
Then they announced the winners of the duck race and Liz was lucky enough to win a small prize. Then we had our desert with Liz having the cheesecake and me the sticky date pudding smothered in cream very nice indeed.
After the meal we wound our way home and went inside for there is no fire tonight and watched a bit of television.
This morning we were out of bed early for the Royal Flying Doctor Service is arriving to administer the second jab of the Coved serum. We were to see the plane arriving so we hopped in the car and drove up for our 9am appointment. We went in for the injection at 10 past 10. All over and done with and the nurse commented how much healthier I looked compared to a fortnight ago.
We eventually left there and Liz went to play Bingo and won three prizes. She won the first whilst I was having a cappuccino at the Cafe.
I elected to walk home and on arriving I settled in to read my book and noted all the happy campers arriving. Unfortunately a couple we met recently the husband had a minor stroke and the Royal Flying Doctor Service flew him out to Cunnamulla. His wife had to drive their car and caravan down so we will not probably hear how he recovered.
Empty the ash out of the fireplace and then set the fire for tonight which will include a chimney log. The rest of the afternoon was spent reading.

SES and Fire station Yowah
The game of Bocce and the players very ernest in their endeavours

Saturday the 19th
The morning was sunny and warm as we sat outside for breakfast, we decided to have only toast and a cuppa and leave the muffins until tomorrow morning. After breakfast we read our books for awhile and then the clouds appeared and that dreadful southerly wind that made all things cold appeared.
We went up to the the Saturday Markets and the main theme was selling opal pendants and bottles of matrix etc which really did not suit us so we gave it a miss and walked along and had a good look at the SES and Fire station before returning to camp.
Still cold and we went to visit our friends who were not home so back to camp and had lunch and relaxed.
Liz lit the fire to try to build up hot coals to cook potatoes and pumpkin in aluminium for our meal tonight. We were to watch the Bocce players play their daily games. They were all well rugged up and the frivolity was the name of the game.
We had a good chimney fire last night and I was to select out chimney for tonight. It is that cold that we were sheltering near the motorhome trying to avoid the wind.
We will go inside later to watch the football before going off to bed, it has been another lazy day.

Houses for Sale in Yowah, or just a small sample of those available
Our lunch heating up on the fire with the kettle This is our large chimney fire for tonight

Sunday the 20th
It was a chilly night and only 11 degrees this morning. The bonus being the sun was shining brightly with no clouds in the sky and that dreaded wind had abated thus it warmed up quickly.
We had our McChallis egg, bacon and cheese muffins for breakfast along with a cup of tea, very nice indeed. We cleaned up and sat out talking to the happy campers and settled in to read our books. Then we decided to go for a walk and the day was great so we had a look at the houses for sale, or some of them. Mostly they are garages and awnings and verandahs added. Some had those beautiful gravilleas and one had actually had grass growing, one of the very few in the town.
We stopped on the way back and met some others that were camping across the road from us and then it was time for lunch. We hadn't eaten all the potato from last night so on the coals of the fire from last night which melted the cheese into the whole spud.
After lunch Liz had her hair cut which looks a treat by one of the happy campers who happens to be a hairdresser. It looked good so Gwen had hers cut as well.
We relaxed for the rest of the afternoon and did some repairs to the tripod and loaded the large chimney log onto it for later. We reckon going on the size of the chimney log it will burn for awhile and be very hot and being a good day and evening we should see the wonderful starry night tonight.

Our Chimney Fire underway last night Gwen and Maurie plus Liz and Jim at the cafe for cappuccino and chips

Monday the 21st
We hopped out of bed to another glorious day. Liz appears to have attracted a cold and she coughed most of the night though now indicates that she has broken its back, so to speak.
Early cuppa before breakfast and we then fare welled the two South Australians that are moving on this morning towards Charleville. We then had our breakfast and watched many happy campers depart for area unknown. Four caravans arrived here in the dark last night and set up and early this morning they were gone. We cleaned up around the camp and then decided we would have a Pizza for our meal tonight from the Cafe.
First stop the shop to book in for our meal on thursday evening and to buy a few items and use the ATM. The most you can draw is $250 and there is a surcharge of $2.50. This will be the first and last time we will use it.
Then over to the cafe and with Gwen and Mauri where we had a cappuccino and we ordered a Pizza for tonight. We will have a chip buttee for lunch and wash it down with a cuppa.
Liz was to have a snooze and I read my book out in the brilliant sunshine with very little breeze. After our Pizza tonight we will light the fire with another chimney fire before retiring for the night. We have no trouble putting up with doing very little and just relaxing.

Our wood heap
Burnt a chimney root last night
Finches amongst the foliage
Yellow and Black Gecko
Load of wood gathered today

Tuesday the 22nd
Cold and very cold this morning so much so we stoked the fire up to have breakfast. It was clear that the day would not be good due to the cloud cover, the forecast is for rain tomorrow and Thursday so we will need to be aware of what we leave out.
We stoked the fire and sat and read our books for awhile and then we went to visit our friends after going to the shop for bread etc. Then home for lunch and then mid afternoon we went to the bush to get wood. We were to see plenty of Gecko's though the one that impressed us was one that had yellow stripes on it body.
There is no doubt that Gidgee wood is one tough wood to cut it blunts chainsaw chains very quickly. It did not take long to cut and load plus split the wood, we had taken off some of our jumpers for it was warm in the bush. When we arrived back in camp later in the day we piled the clothes on and the other happy campers had piled more wood on the fire. We had a couple of happy campers come and chew the fat about the tracks around the airport etc.
Liz is cooking a stew on the outside gas and it smells a treat it is an indian green curry with udon noodles which should be great. We will pile the fire with a chimney log after our meal this evening and go in later to watch a bit of Television. Its a bugger all this relaxing makes hungry and in need of a bit of refreshment.

Sunset last night
Washing machine out for use
Out in the bush

Wednesday the 23rd
We had a wonderful sunset last night which we were hoping would auger for a good day today. That wasn't to be after breakfast we decided to bring out the washing machine and catch up with what needed washing. Set up the clothes line under the roof line of the nearby Donga's in case it rained. Set the charger up for the motorhome and the AGM battery in the back of the Terios and hooked the Waeco into power. On went the generator and the washing machine was in full swing.
The day was very overcast though the rain stayed away until mid afternoon.
Our friends gave us a call and we went out to the bush to gather wood for them and us, we have quite a woodpile. We still have happy campers coming up and asking was the wood for everyone's use, we get the opinion that they feel slighted when we say no and they should collect the wood themselves.
We finally went by the airport and our friends cut up the tree which gave us plenty more chimney logs.
Back in camp and the washing was dry and so in it come and we turned off the generator and hooked every thing back into 12 volt power.
We were to get intermittent rain during the afternoon though after our evening meal we were able to come back out and our friends had arrived and set up the chimney fire which went for some hours while we chewed the fat. Just before dark we were to see birds congregating on the power lines with the dark clouds in the background.
We finally came inside around 10pm as it was starting to rain and our friends had gone home. We watched the football show for a while and went off to bed and read our books for awhile. Given the nature of the day it was quite alright.

Thursday the 24th
We had heaps of rain during the night and when we hopped out of bed we could not believe that the sun was shining, though this only last for two hours and then we had to bring the generator into play to charge all the battery systems.
We cooked our toast and boiled our kettle on the fire and settled in and had a chat to nearby happy campers and then the rain came intermittently firs and then it became cold so we stoked up the fire even more.

We are planning on going up to the cafe/ restaurant for our meal tonight which of course will be 2 course and we will take part in the Duck Race in the bore drain. At the moment we are in and out of the drizzle.

Sunset last night
Bore drain Duck Race
Roast Chicken with plenty of gravy
Our Desert last night
Saying farewell Joan & Selwyn
Opal Pendants for sale

Friday the 25th
It was a wonderful sunset last night given the day. We of course went to the Cafe/Restaurant for a meal, Liz was to have the Beef and veggies and I settled for Chicken with plenty of veggies and gravy all very nice then we had Desert washed down with wine and a frothy. Then off home to watch the football and to see Geelong get well and truly beaten by Brisbane.
This morning was brilliant sunshine though a little cold with a heavy dew. This would change later in the day to cloud which spoilt our solar panels.
We had our breakfast and the girls then left to go to Bingo at the hall.
I sat out and read my book and then cleaned the ash out of the fire place. At noon we went up to the Cafe for lunch with Selwyn and Joan and Mauri and Gwen. When we arrived the girls had won chocolates at the Bingo.
Liz and I had cappuccinos and chips, dim sims and a spring roll for me for our lunch. The time came and we said farewell to Selwyn and Joan who are pushing onto Quilpie today.
Back in camp Liz was to get the fire going for tonight and we are just going to cook a few sausages to have in bread and then enjoy the company of our friends and other happy campers..
We will no doubt go inside later tonight to watch the football before going off to bed after another good day.

Chimney fire last night
Moon rising last night
Sun rising this morning

Saturday the 26th
We had another good chimney fire last night with Chris and Bron joining us, the heat from the fire was intense and we all had to move our chairs back. We were to watch the Moon rise and it was great and very enjoyable, lighting up the area. We went inside and watched the St Kilda V Richmond game which surprisingly the Saints won by 40 points which made me happy.
This morning the sky was blue no clouds and I was to capture the sun rising through the trees. Stoked up the fire and then boiled the kettle for a quick cuppa before cooking our breakfast. Of course it was our normal Saturday breakfast of Muffin egg, cheese and bacon washed down with another cup of tea.
We then sat out in the sunshine and read our books. Around 10 am John and Jenny arrived and set up camp near us and we all had a good chin wag.
Lunch time arrived and we still had not done any thing strenuous other than enjoy the fine weather. We were to see many happy campers come and go during the day and then the happy campers from over the road came over for happy hour and to sit by our fire.
Tonight again we will have another chimney fire before going in to watch the football.
